Ms. Deborah Emmy Nowinksi is the dynamic Founding Artistic Director of the pioneering Dionysus Theatre in Houston, Texas, which she formed 12 years ago, in memory of her beloved son, Dustin. The Dionysus Theatre is the only inclusive theatre in the State of Texas that combines actors who are persons with disabilities with actors who are persons without disabilities. Ms. Nowinski, who holds degrees in Child Development and Theatre, and Classical Studies with an emphasis on Ancient Greek Theatre and Myth, is a recipient of the Jefferson Award, the Mayor's Advocate of the Year, the Leadership in Action Award, and the YWCA Woman in the Arts Award. Ms. Nowinski's passions are teaching, playwriting, and advocacy.
