John 15 is a wonderful chapter of deep theology. The deep theology of the gospel of John is centered in the mystery of the Christ and the enactment of that mystery in the Christological event. Jesus is declared to be the Messiah who sets humankind free from the power of sin and the power of death. But many people do not know the deep ontological meaning of those two words. Many people dismiss them as so called "churchy" words used by Preachers and Sunday School teachers. But John, who is also the writer if the deep mystery call The Revelation, the last book of the Bible, also writes his gospel in such a way as to appreciate the deep mystery of Jesus. He sees Jesus not only as the fulfillment of the prophetic promise made to Adam and Eve, but also as the eschatological fulfillment of the Adam chronicle.
