Family of a Vet’s mission is to offer worthwhile information and education for veterans and their loved ones to survive and thrive after combat. It was begun by one determined Army spouse (Brannan Vines) of an Iraqi veteran who came home with Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). She was shocked to find out what little support is available for the families of veterans. Worse still was the fact that many other spouses of Iraqi and Afghanistan War veterans were experiencing the same family problems and were also unable to find help.

After a lot of Internet searches, she stumbled across the VA Vet Centers and the Vietnam Veteran Wives organization. Through them, she began to learn about PTS, TBI, and the effects of combat on families, and finally came to the conclusion that someone had to stand up and start helping the thousands of "new" vet families being created by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As a "One Woman Army" she began her crusade, and was soon joined by other veterans, loved ones, and caring individuals within the mental health community. What started as a small project is now continuing to grow daily to meeting the needs of our returning heroes and their families.
