Call in to speak with the host
After washing one of her bikinis, Katina Booth, president of Mykini Blingz, noticed that the jewelry attached to it had come off, making the swimwear un-wearable. The mishap sparked an idea: “this should be removable,” she said.
Booth had been watching CNBC’s The Big Idea, an entrepreneur encouragement program, when she decided to submit her idea of removable swimwear jewelry. “They called me right away and asked me to come on the show and that’s how we launched it,” said Booth. “Two weeks went by and they received a lot of positive feedback and asked me to come on the show again as a success story.” Booth first appeared on the program September 8th and was back on as a “success story” by September 30th.
After launching, Mykini Blingz showed their designs at the Surf Expo tradeshow held mid-January in Orlando, and companies such as Vans, Chica Rica, Graffinis and others expressed interest in the company’s products, said Booth. “We were just approached this week to send our pieces to the girls of the Hawaiian Tropic pageant in St Martin. They will be wearing our jewelry on their swimwear for this pageant,” she said. Katina is now a fan of Peak Mindset Radio where you can hear her ad play every Tuesday. Also she has been able to connect with other past guests where they are now working on custom pieces with big plans to end up on HSN in the near future.
