Life After Sixty
A poem dedicated to people over sixty. To motivate, uplift, and to prove that life doesn't stop at 60.
Where have you beenWhat have you doneHave you set an exampleHave you had any fun
Have you settled your debtsHave you made peace with GodHas your life been realOr just a façade
Are you ready to stand up And move on aheadOr take off your shoesAnd go back to bed
For many at sixtyLife seems to slow downSome are so grumpyYou don’t want them around
So what’s your take On the state of affairsAre you falling downOr going up the stairs
Do you moan, whine, And complain everydayWhen opportunity knocksDo you scare it away
Why don’t you sit downAnd take a good look at yourselfBox up the pastAnd put it on the shelf
Take a deep breath Step out of your chairYou were never promisedA life that was fair
Stop pointing the fingerPlaying the blame gameTo waste another momentWould be a shame
Write a songRead a bookDon’t be afraidTo take a good hard look
Dr. Death’s great clock Is ticking downBefore you know itYou’ll be in the ground
So get up and runThat last mileLet them say when you dieYou went out in style
