    Life after sixty

    Life After Sixty

A poem dedicated to people over sixty. To motivate, uplift, and to prove that life doesn't stop at 60.

    Where have you been
    What have you done
    Have you set an example
    Have you had any fun

    Have you settled your debts
Have you made peace with God
    Has your life been real
    Or just a façade

Are you ready to stand up
    And move on ahead
    Or take off your shoes
    And go back to bed

    For many at sixty
    Life seems to slow down
    Some are so grumpy
    You don’t want them around

    So what’s your take
    On the state of affairs
    Are you falling down
    Or going up the stairs

    Do you moan, whine,
    And complain everyday
    When opportunity knocks
    Do you scare it away

    Why don’t you sit down
And take a good look at yourself
    Box up the past
And put it on the shelf

    Take a deep breath
    Step out of your chair
    You were never promised
    A life that was fair

    Stop pointing the finger
    Playing the blame game
    To waste another moment
    Would be a shame

    Write a song
    Read a book
    Don’t be afraid
To take a good hard look

    Dr. Death’s great clock
    Is ticking down
    Before you know it
    You’ll be in the ground

    So get up and run
    That last mile
Let them say when you die
    You went out in style
