Today's show deals with WWII Veterans who are known for their strength and perseverance. Their stories will soon be all we have to honor the valor and sacrifice of the greatest generation. The remaining time we have with these hero's is fading and that is why our special guest today is world renounced author, Howard Layton. In his new book, Layton recounts his adventures as Royal Airforce Navigator, provides the only personal account of victory at El-Alamein and talks about his love won and lost during the war. "Love and Sand: An RAF Flyer's Memoir of Love, Lies, and Mayhem in the World War II Deserts of North Africa. (Sept 2008) Check out his book at Three Spires Publishing, ISBN 978-0-967008-5-7, For Only $24.00! His first book is "The Thirteen Club". At 2pm I give our listeners some background of the war until about 2:30pm. Then, Howard will be on at 2:30 to tell his story. This is a great opportunity for our younger generation and history buffs to hear this first-hand account of WWII before their voices fade in the distance. Check it out and tell your friends to listen. After he is interviewed, I will open my phone lines to take live calls........Check out his web site at http://www.howardlayton.com

VFW will be delivering a giant Christmas card to wounded troops recovering at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Wash., and we want your signature to be included.

Add your name to the giant Christmas card and let these brave men and women know that we are deeply grateful for their sacrifices.

There are no Stockings in Iraq...

There Are No Stockings In Iraq

It's Christmas Day in the desert. You're on patrol. It seems Santa's been kidnapped by the Air Force.

Back home it's morning... your wife and kids must be opening their presents without you. As you return to base, you're in a bad mood.

Surprise! The USO is handing out pre-paid phone cards so you can call home and for FREE! Tomorrow you'll actually be able to share Christmas with your kids, even if it's by phone and a day late.

There's something else... a card from someone you don't even know. It says "Thanks." Hey - it's nice to know someone besides your family knows you're stuck over here and appreciates what you did for them today.

For most of us at home, it's hard to imagine what it must be like to be stationed overseas for the Holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, it's the loneliest time to be at the Front.

At the USO, it's our job to deliver some Holiday cheer to our young men and women in combat. But we need Americans like you to help us do our job: by filling out a Holiday card with a message from you and by sending a gift of whatever you can afford, to help us deliver your card where it's needed most - right to the front lines.

Any gift will do, even $10. But please give as generously as you can and do send in your card. Especially during the Holidays, our troops overseas need to know their fellow Americans are thinking about them.

In return, you'll get the greatest gift of all, the knowledge that you've helped bring a smile to a lonely face.

On behalf of those we serve,

    - The USOGIVE NOW!

    CHANGE

          Change .. Change ... Change!!!!!!!!!!

Not long ago I read a joke ... It said all the politicians running for president are promising change to the American people. We send them billions and billions of tax dollars and they send us the change.

    Funny?

Not really; there is too much truth in it to be funny.

That got me to thinking .... They all promise change. How about if they run on a promise of restoration rather than change. A restoration that would take us back in time to a place where things ran better, smoother and life was more enjoyable. Change? That, in truth, is what they have been giving us all along.

    We used to have a
strong dollar ... Politicians changed that.

Life used to be sacred ... Politicians changed that.

Marriage used to be sacred ... Politicians are changing that.

    We used to be
respected around the world ... Politicians changed that.

We used to have a strong
manufacturing economy .. Politicians changed that.

    We used to have
lower tax structures .... Politicians changed that.

    We used to enjoy more
    freedoms ... Politicians changed that.

We used to be a large
exporter of American made goods ... Politicians changed that.

We used to be an openly Christian nation ... Politicians changed that.

    We used to teach
patriotism in schools .... Politicians changed that.

    We used to
educate children in schools ... Politicians changed that.

We used to enjoy freedom of
    speech .... Politicians changed that.

    We used to enforce
LEGAL citizenship ... Politicians changed that.

    We used to have affordable
food & gas prices ... Politicians changed that, too. .. and one could go on and on with this list.

What hasn't been changed, politicians are promising to change that as well if you will elect them.

When, oh when, is America going to sit back with open eyes and look at what we once were and where we have come and say, enough is enough?

The trouble is, America 's youthful voters today don't know of the great America that existed forty and fifty years ago. They see the world as if it has always existed, as it is now.

When will we wake up? Tomorrow may be too late. When will America realize ...
Politicians are what is wrong with America ?
PASS THIS ONE AROUND FOR A CHANGE

And to remind us Who is really in Charge!

OLD SCHOOL AMERICAN; A CIVILIAN CONTRACTORS NIGHTMARE!

Which Is Brought To You By The Old School American Network. Big Daddy Frank will expose the good, bad, and ugly side of our workers comp system. Our current workers rights process is just an illusion. The system works as long as you don't get injured. With any insurance company today they are your best friend until you file a claim. Every year you do file a claim, they earn raises, bonuses, vacations, and more. Insurance is a business set forth to make profit. The bigger the business, the bigger the profit! Then at one point, one company buys out the other and the greed machine moves to the next level. The workers comp system is bound by law and is regulated by congress. But just as in any other industry today, oversight is far behind the curve. The giants of this forum have taken control of all sides to the insurance game. They influence and drive the courts and programs. They represent big business and the little man. All across this nation, workers comp firms are hired by workers to represent them in their injury cases on a state or federal level. The average worker actually believes what he hears from his employer and the government about the injury process. Our government spends millions of our tax dollars to promote a workers program that does not practice what it preaches. Likewise, the Department of Labor which oversees the DBA Longshore Compensation Program boasts of a fair program, but does little to deliver. The DBA guarantees free representation and treatment to all injured workers in a war zone regardless of who is at fault. Since the workers comp program pays attorneys fees, not the worker, it is crucial for them to represent many clients. It is essential that they speed up the process, they wheel & deal cases, and they settle out of court 90% of the time. This way they have less time & expenses involved with their small cases which allow more time & money for their cash cows.

The American Veterans Center holds it's annual American Veterans Conference every year during the weekend before Veterans Day (This year Nov. 6-8th) in Washington DC. This conference always has a star-studded list of veterans and speakers from all generations and every conflict from WWII to today. Among others, Lt. General Hal Moore once again joins this line up for what will be his last "official" appearance at the conference. Lt. General Moore is a legend to most veterans, and with the popularity of the Mel Gibson Movie "We Were Soldiers" he has become a national hero. Last year the "We Were Soldiers" panel was a huge success, and left us all speechless.

    Our Fallen Soldier
OurFallenSoldier.com was created by the family of Sgt. Kyle A. Colnot, KIA 04/22/2006 in Iraq. It is our wish that the website would be a place of comfort and sharing for family and friends of Fallen Soldiers. Families are encouraged to create a memorial page to honor their fallen soldier and share their Fallen Soldiers story and pictures. We have created a place to honor these brave men and women on a personal level, rather than just merely a listing of names. We believe their stories are worth telling! Families are invited to communicate amoungst themselves and offer support to those who seek it, if they wish.

    Paralyzed Veterans of America
Paralyzed Veterans of America works to maximize the quality of life for its members and all people with SCI/D as a leading advocate for health care, SCI/D research and education, veterans’ benefits and rights, accessibility and the removal of architectural barriers, sports programs, and disability rights.

    Patriot Guard Riders
The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.

We don’t care what you ride, what your political views are, or whether you're a "hawk" or a "dove". It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is. You don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives.

    1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.

    2. Shield the mourning family and friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.
