Evans Paul Sherbo will be joining us as our Guest Host to commemorate the forty-fifth anniversary of the June 3, 1969 sinking of the USS Frank E. Evans a United States Navy destroyer, struck by the Australian aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne.  Operating as part of a combined force with the Royal Australian Navy and other allied naval ships, the Evans executed a starboard turn into the path of Melbourne at 0315 a.m. on June 3, 1969 and was cut in half by the heavier and larger war ship.  Evans’ broken off bow section sank almost immediately taking 73 unfortunate crewmembers with it.  Only one body was recovered in the aftermath of the collision, bringing the total lost to 74.  Out of the 273 crewmembers on board, 199 survived. The stern section, although severely damaged, remained afloat. The courage and heroic spirit of both ships' crews add a genuine admiration for their bravery despite their confusion in the sudden turn of events. We’ll be talking with former crew members who will provide updates on the groups activities and the drive by the USS Frank E. Evans DD754 Association members to have the ‘Lost 74” names added to the Vietnam Memorial Wall.     01:17:00Patriot Media BroadcastingnoTom Gauthier,Military Author Radio,Patriot Media Incorporated,USS Frank E. Born in Hawaii, Nakasone witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. After graduating high school he served in the United States Army as an interpreter during the Occupation of Japan in 1947-48. Now a retired colonel, US Army, Nakasone taught aboard US Navy vessels at sea as an adjunct professor for NCPACE—the Navy’s college afloat. He has travelled widely, authored many papers, several books and produced videos on WWII. He is the recipient of two Fulbright Grants, one to Japan in 1965, the second to India in 1981. His popular dramatization, Pearl Harbor Remembered, is widely acclaimed and has been presented to hundreds of schools, colleges, clubs and military and veterans’ groups. In his acclaimed book, The Nisei Soldier, Professor Nakasone brings to life a part of history that has been neglected—the account of Japanese-American soldiers, the Nisei, as they fought bravely for their country despite the discrimination accorded them by the people and government of the U.S.A. Nakasone’s narrative is rich in descriptive detail, based not only upon his own experiences but extensive interviews he had with the soldiers of whom he writes as well. Historian Edwin M. Nakasone is a University of Minnesota graduate and a professor emeritus of Century College, White Bear Lake, MN, teaching World War II history, Asian history and Asian Pacific American History. 01:04:00Patriot Media BroadcastingnoMilitary Author Radio,Edwin M. The Donkey, is an uplifting, faith-based family novel by author Paul Stuligross about a 48-year-old newspaper reporter, Dan Mertze, who vainly tries to overcome a despairing world view that has gradually permeated his writing.   He reluctantly accepts an assignment to interview 99-year-old Claire Henning, relating her childhood religious experiences involving a donkey.  After several interviews with Claire, subtle changes occur in Dan’s life as he learns not all troubles are bad and some are blessings. John Sloan, Claire’s father in the story, was inspired by the author’s grandfather, John Stuligross, who served in the United States Army’s 85th Division, 339th Infantry Regiment, an expeditionary force officially known as Polar Bears. In 1918 he was sent to Russia during World War I to fight the Bolsheviks.   01:01:00Patriot Media BroadcastingnoPaul Stuligross,The Donkey,Dari Bradley,Tom Gauthier,Military Author RadioMILITARY AUTHOR RADIO With Dr. Tom Gauthier and Dari Bradley LIVE PROGRAM: TUESDAY, April 1, 2014 7:00 PM CST GUEST AUTHOR: PAUL STULIGROSS  The DonkeyMilitary Author Radiohttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/patriot-media-broadcasting/2014/03/26/military-author-radioBookshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/patriot-media-broadcasting/2014/03/26/military-author-radio/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/patriot-media-broadcasting/2014/03/26/military-author-radioWed, 26 Mar 2014 00:00:00 GMTMilitary Author RadioMILITARY AUTHOR RADIO IS BACK! Adam Makos is a journalist, historian, and editor of the military magazine, Valor. In his fifteen years of work in the military field, Makos has interviewed countless veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and present-day wars. He has flown a B-17 bomber, a T-38 fighter with the Air Force, and was one of the few journalists privileged to examine Air Force One with its pilots. In pursuit of a story, Makos has met with Presidents, had tea with Prince Charles, and toured the DMZ border in Korea with American troops. The high point of his work occurred in 2008, when Makos traveled to Iraq to accompany the 101st Airborne and Army Special Forces on their hunt for Al Qaeda terrorists. Earlier this year Makos’ book A Higher Call became a NY Times Best Seller. On this show Military Author Radio is showcasing Makos’ new book, Voices of the Pacific, the real life stories from fifteen WWII Marines, compiled by Adam Makos and Marcus Brotherton but left unfiltered and in the words of the Marines who lived them. 01:11:00Patriot Media BroadcastingnoMilitary Authors Radio,CoHosts Tom Gauthier and Dari Bradley,Adam Makos Voices of the Pacific,A Higher Call,Spotlight on the Medal of HonorMILITARY AUTHOR RADIO APRIL 16, 2013 GUEST: ADAM MAKOS PRERECORDED BROADCAST 7:30 PM CST Military Author Radio, www.militaryauthorradio.com with Director Dr. TMilitary Author Radiohttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/patriot-media-broadcasting/2013/04/10/military-author-radioBookshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/patriot-media-broadcasting/2013/04/10/military-author-radio/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/patriot-media-broadcasting/2013/04/10/military-author-radioWed, 10 Apr 2013 00:30:00 GMTMilitary Author RadioMILITARY AUTHOR RADIO APRIL 9, 2013 GUEST: Richard Derosset Military Author Radio, www.militaryauthorradio.com with Director Dr. Tom Gauthier and Dari Bradley CEO of Patriot Media, Incorporated Welcome to Military Author Radio, Richard Derosset!
