Pastor Carter, is speaking in tongues in our life times REAL? Does God want us to communicate with Him in a language that only He and that person would understand? God's continued blessings! Demetrice
I totally agree with you that God would not have us to speak in a language that no one else could understand. What kind of blessing would be in that? Who would receive that blessing? Did God bless that particular person to speak in another language, and with the ability to translate it too, so that others come receive what was really said? My spirit felt conflicted at that point, because I felt that if I didn't try to do it, I wasn't giving God the chance to use me, or that I didn't believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to do such a powerful thing in me. I left that church, never to return to their worship services or workshops again. It did not feel of God. As you stated, in 1 Corinthians 12:1-10, God has blessed us all with different gifts, but according to his will and purpose. We can not make ourselves do anything. I totally

they didn't give us any clear directions as how to come about speaking in tongues. We were to start praying and praising God, and say whatever sounds came to mind, and in doing so, the Holy Spirit would reveal itself to us, and guide us within the language in which he wanted us to communicate with him in. It felt very, very weird to me to be standing there trying to talk gibberish, and coax the Holy Spirit into making me speak in tongues. My spirit felt conflicted at that point, because I felt t

Blessings upon you Pastor Carter. Thank you for this message. It reminds me of a time I went to worship at a church many yar ago, and after the services, they had small workshops that you could attend if you were led by the spirit to do so. There was a workshop on speaking in tongues that I felt I wanted to learn more about. When I entered into the class, the teachers was telling us how everyone could speak in tongues, which was your own communication with God. However, they didn't give us any c
