Hi! I'm Beverly Mahone inviting you to join me each Sunday evening on my program I call "Passions." This show will Educate, Entertain and Empower you with guests who are pursuing their new passions at midlife!
Date / Time: 12/8/2008 3:17 AM UTC
In law enforcement, suspected criminals are read something called Miranda Rights: "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you..." This same statement could apply to your online social networking activity. Have you ever thought about how the words you use could work against you? During the presidential election, I read many hateful posts from people who, otherwise, represented themselves as respectable business owners. For some, their emotions got the best of them and some of the things they said made me think of them differently. I actually stopped following several people on Twitter as a result. Although the political election is now over, the damage was already done.
As a business owner, do you think twice before you post a controversial topic or do you do it just to see how others will react?
If you read a post that offends you, do you take the time to contact the person directly before jumping the gun and spouting off your own offensive remarks?
As professionals in business, we must be conscious of the fact that we may be judged for our socialism as well as our professionalism. Be sure to tune in on Monday, December 8 at 12pm ESTwhen we discuss the impact social networking can have on your business with your host, Beverly Mahone. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/passions
