Numbers, we measure everything. We measure the temperature, height , weight, blood pressure, interest rates, debts, net worth, tax rates, positions on the earth, the stars, the tides, miles per hour, miles per gallon, price per gallon, the number of days per season, hairs on your head, marriages, age, hours of the day, sunlight for the day, days until the next full moon, and on and on it goes. You name it, we count.
Or do we? What about your attitude? We say a person has a good or bad attitude. We never say they are 92.675% positive. Or your level of enthusiasm? We say: I am psyced or pump up or fired up. But we never say his enthusiasm for this is 99.42%. We might say he is off the Richter Scale (again a way to measure earthquakes)
But we do measure our emotions and level commitment. Occasionally we will say I am 100% committed or 110% into this. We made a ‘half-hearted effort.’ Half-hearted, as opposed to Whole Hearted. And being whole hearted is good. Spirit? Charisma? Loyalty?
Question: Who is the most enthusiastic person you know?
Question: If I asked someone else that question, how many people would give your name?
