Tonight, on Parent Talk Live, special guest host Dr. Sairah Qureshi will discuss the harmful and brutal effects bullying has on children, their families, schools, and communities. Joining Dr. Qureshi is Dr. Jennifer Fraser. Dr. Fraser is an author and educator. Her latest book Teaching Bullies tells the story of 14 students who came forward to report on the verbal, emotional and some physical abuse at the hands of their teachers. How they were treated by school administrators, lawyers, and educational authorities is cause for alarm. The story is grounded in psychological, psychiatric, neuroscientific and sports journalism. It is a call to action for all those who want to protect children from bullying especially when it's done by teachers and coaches.

Dr. Sairah Qureshi, author of “School Bullying and Racist Bullying; Who are the Victims?” earned her Ph.D. in the UK, November 2011. Her research focused on school bullying and racist bullying, via obtaining the perceptions of young people interviewed. Adapted from her thesis, this exciting new book is unique from other studies as it offers the reader an analysis of all on school bullying and racism. Particularly, it examines bullying from a social psychological as well as socio-economic theoretical perspective and explains the causes of bullying as per the individual psychological background and due to the socio-economic environment. It addresses why bullying and racist bullying occurs and how it is manifested around the school environment.
