    Asthma Epidemic Among Latino Kids

    in Parents

With moderator Elianne Ramos, Vice-Chair of Communications and PR, LATISM; Chris Espinosa, National Director of Advocacy at the Hispanic Federation; Dr. Evelyn Montalvo, Pediatric Pulmonologist; and Steph's mom, Lydia Rojas.
Asthma is an issue of social justice. With 66 percent of Latinos in the United States living in areas that do not meet federal air quality standards, Latino children are 60 percent more at risk for asthma than white children. When these children grow into adults, they are three times as likely as whites to die from asthma. Particulate pollution emitted by power plants over poorer neighborhoods  – over school buildings and playgrounds were children spend their days – triggers and aggravates asthma, which translates into missed days of work and school, visits to the emergency room, and greater exposure to dangerous and expensive health issues. This blog radio discussion will look at the connection between coal pollution and asthma, the connection between asthma and race, differences in health care given to suffering children, and what parents can do.
About the Moms Clean Air Force
The Moms Clean Air Force is a growing community of moms, dads and others, from all walks of life, who are defending clean air for the sake of our children's health.

Calling All Parents - Finding Order in Chaos

    in Parents

We each have triggers that send us into stress, disorder, and even chaos. Kids born with Heart Suit birthdays tip emotionally and go into drama. Kids born with Club birthdays, get confused and go straight to argument and condemnation. Kids who have Diamond birthdays, lash out and often run away. The Spade suit digs in it's heals and holds strong with uncanny determination and stubornness.
I am a parent. I raised two boys - by myself even. I understand the dynamics of parenting from personal expereince. I also understand the personal natures of each individual, which is more helpful that any other thing I have found in the world.
When I wrote my book, Love and Destiny - Discover the Secret Language of Relationships, the book that I really wanted to write before it was, Kids in the Cards - A Mystical Guide for Parents, Teachers, and Caregivers of Children (that book is being published right now).
I had discovered the unseen and unheard conversations in relationships - all relative to the dynamice created by our birthdays - that exist in our interactions with one another.
The responsbility of parenting can be daunting. There's is a secret to communicating with our kids that creates a magical doorway into their nature through understanding which can transform chaos into harmony, and conflict into conversation, and rebellion into successful self-expression.
Join me on this show as we explore the character and nature of your child, the hidden dynamics that exist in your relationship with her, and the secrets to creating a successful, happy, loving connection with him that can grow forever.
I will have open lines for callers - and I welcome those calls.
