PIT CREW Conversation with Tremelle Jones, City Year Recrutiment Manager, San Antonio, TX

    Quote for the day:

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.—Margaret Mead

Our guest and this week's resource really highlights the power of a group of thoughtful citizens.

We at Parent Driven Schools believe that it is the parent who can bring positive change to the edcuation environment. We need parents to use their voice  and their choice to organize their eduction community. We need parents to partner with teachers in the classroom.  We need parents to talk to their local, state and national elected officials about their choice for education. One parent at a time, and in groups doing what they can to help create positive learning environments.

Is your learning environment doing ok? Are you actively engaged in ensuring it maintains the quality and standard that you desire for your students?

It is the small thoughtful group that makes the changes.  City Year is a program that helps promote those thoughtful groups and helps young adults connect and understand how  and where they can make a difference.

Parents talking to their students about learning and what they want to do with their learning - and how they can develop the life skill of loving to learn all life long needs programs and resources to support them in the process of nurturing thoughtful citizens.

It is what we at Parent Driven Schools think edcuation is all albout: identifying your interest and abilities, exploring them through the classroom/educational process and connecting  your  developed skills to make a vital difference in your community.

Our Guest: Tremelle Jones, City Year Recruitment Manager, San Antonio, TX

City Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world.
As tutors, mentors and role models, these young leaders make a difference in the lives of children, and transform schools and neighborhoods in 18 U.S. locations and Johannesburg, South Africa. Just as important, during their year of service corps members develop civic leadership skills they can use throughout a lifetime of community service.

When you are a corp member you can make a difference.
    In schools.
    In classrooms.
    In neighborhoods.

Help students succeed, become confident and excel.

Give hope to children who need to be told " you can do it, I believe in you".

City Year does this for schools and communities.
Parent Driven Schools offers support and resources for parents and their students.
We all need to be involved in creating life long learners who love to learn!
