PIT CREW Conversations....Resource Review-- Your Local LIbrary

    Quotes for today:

Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and the pupil are located in the same individual

I am a work in progress...as long as I keep working I progress.....

Resource Review:  Your Local Public Library!
Do you have a library card? Does your student have one?
Can you plan a walk or a bike ride to your local library?
Can you drive to the central library in a major city near you?
Did you watch the new movie "The night at the Smithsonian Museum" ?
Was there a favorite character you would like to learn more about?
Make this summer a fun learning summer and see how many different facts ,  books, etc you can discover about that character at the local library.

Create Life long learners over the summer...have fun with learning!
Go to your local public library and discover resources that connect you and your student to each other's interest and abilities.

Walk around the library and discover the section of books that takes your fancy-- always wanted to know more about.....
    drawing, painting, race cars, fishing.
It cost you nothing  but your time to wonder around the library and explore different resources and media types to learn about your interest and abilities--
Looking for a way to brush up on your vocabulary?  learn new language?
discover some fun facts about your state or city?  or map out an itinerary of a trip to a place you dream about visiting someday..... Connect to resources that open the doors to learning that is fun.

It is time for parents to shift into high gear. We need to change our cultureal notion of education.  It is about learning not teaching. The teacher is there to help the student how to learn -- to discover information and develop a core content and mastery around a skill set.  Think not what is the teacher going to teach-- but rather-- how can I help my child learn how to learn at this age level and in this needed content areas.

When you approach the educational environment with that result in mind the positive changes in edcuation will continue to be made as we race head long into a future of unknowns. All we know is that we need to be ready to learn when we go out into the world-- for it is not the world we were told it was to be.
For your students,  the future workplace  will be as positive and as satisfactory  as their ability to  continuously learn.  Create that desire and love of learning by visiting your local library this summer more than once...you will see it is a resource gold mine. Have fun learning all summer long!
