The Pit Crew Conversation: "Education is the transmission for civilizaion"

The PIT Crew ( Parent Involvement Together ) Conversation shares resources, information and observations on why we as parents need to be involved in our children education process.

We believe that the Individual Learning Plan ( ILP)
helps parents, students and teachers navigate the educational journey.

We believe the ILP is a living document that grows and flows with the student
We support parents with resources and tools that inspire and motivate you to stay involved and engaged in your student's education process.

As parents, we need to be revved up to make sure that we can help our children's education journey is finely-tuned to meet their needs.

There are good things that are happening in eduction and we want to support each parent in making sure  the positive changes keep occurring. We can not sit back and rest on last week's  accomplishments.

We must be involved and engaged and interactive in the education process.
For as the workforce changes so to must our education system adapt and change to meet the current needs.
Check out the U tube posted on our facebook page --"Did you Know"   http://budurl.com/ld8q
This video clip shows the improtace of keeping educcation current.   We need to advocate  in order for our students to be ready to go to work.

    Today's resource: Mom's for Change
Parenting Magazine and Georgetown University's new Mom Congress program anything is possible

“The Mom Congress initiative is driven by the ever increasing role parents play in implementing positive change in our nation’s schools,” said Susan Kane, editorial director of The Parenting Group and editor-in-chief of Parenting magazine. “Since the economic stimulus bill has earmarked a significant amount of financial support for public education, we have a unique opportunity to help moms advocate for funding for the resources that really matter to today’s families.”

The top 5 areas that moms are fighting for:

    1. smaller class sizes
    2. teacher salaries
    3. arts programs
    4. technology
    5. special education programs

Below are two links that take you to the sponsoring programs' websites that explain how they are helping mom's get their voices heard and supporting moms in their pursuit of life long learning.  We think this is a win-win-win!
