Listen to this edition of the Pan-African Journal: Worldwide Radio Broadcast hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. The program features our regular PANW reports with dispatches on the US airstrikes in Syria which killed over 100 civilians since July 19; Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe held a meeting with the war veterans association just this last past week at ZANU-PF headquarters in Harare; South African government officials are preparing for the local governmental election during early August; and the National Democratic Convention inside the United States was marked by rancour and instability between the proponents of Hillary Clinton and the supporters of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. In the second hour we look back at the circumstances surrounding the 1964 DNC in Atlantic City where the Mississippi Freedom Demnocratic Party challenged the status quo on the questions of voting rights and self-determination. Finally we also review the history of the US war against Vietnam and its impact on the Democratic Party during the 1960s.
