Nathaniel Johnstone returns to the show to talk about this band's recently released CD Mother Matrix. "The Nathaniel Johnstone Band hails from Seattle, WA, lead by multi-instrumentalist Nathaniel Johnstone (violin, viola, banjo, mandolin, and guitar). Their vibrant sound crosses boundaries and borders, resulting in a blend of European, Middle Eastern, and South American music with Jazz, Rock, Surf, Folk, Gothic, and Steampunk influences."
"When Nathaniel was casting about for a theme to this new album Tempest showed him a new drawing she'd made that she'd entitled The Mother Matrix. It instantly fired up his imagination and he began to wonder what, or who the Mother Matrix was. As usual, once he shared his ideas with Alyssa, Dogwood, and the rest of the band, the songs pretty much wrote themselves. This album is an exploration of that thought process."
Their new release Mother Matrix came out on May 1st and they were already on tour with it by the time Nathaniel said yes to this interview. Tune in to the show to catch some samples from the new album as well as some pieces from previous releases. There may even be a surprise or two for you!
