Surprisingly, Levar’s rise to the top isn’t because he hasn’t made mistakes...but because he has made the mistakes and has learned how to channel them into positives. Growing up in a small eastern, North Carolina town, Levar didn’t find a lot to keep him out of trouble or way from a Burger King.  Subsequently, he received his first motivation for success from bullies who made fun of his weight and his dreams of playing professional football.  A few years and lot of hard work later, Levar was recruited by North Carolina State University, attending on a full football scholarship.  He made 1st team All - ACC selection in 1999, claiming that honor again in 2000 and 2001, as well as ACC’s Defensive Player of the year. He was a Butkus Semi Finalist for Best Linebacker in the Country 2000 and 2001, and a 2000 Bronko Nagurski Finalist (Best Defensive Player in the Country).  You don’t become that good as a linebacker without a few tackles (try 492 for a career), and when you are really competitive, you lead the nation in tackles per game with (15.1, 166 for the year).  Today we're going to chat with Levar about his story, the work he does with youth and learn what it means to be "More Than a Pro."  00:25:00OUTREACH RADIO SHOWnoNFL,Motivational Speaker, motivation, inspirational speaker, leadershipLevar Fisher is an awarded college athlete who became a successful pro, captaining not one – but two NFL teams, and later taking that leadership role to the staBreaking Pointhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/outreachradio/2015/04/29/breaking-pointLifestylehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/outreachradio/2015/04/29/breaking-point/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/outreachradio/2015/04/29/breaking-pointWed, 29 Apr 2015 19:30:00 GMTBreaking PointSusan Still speaks on behalf of those whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence.  She is a survivor of 24 years of abuse by her former husband.  Their case is unique, as in December 2004 Justice John F. After numerous failed attempts at managing their conditions with conventional medicine, they are fed up and finally turn to an alternative, lesser known source for help. Some of those people are so changed by their experience with Holistic Health Care that their passion drives them to become a Holistic Health Practioner themselves. Our guest tonight is Kristi Acuña, and she is one of those people. Kristi was born with a severe case of psoriasis – an autoimmune disease that causes red, patchy skin from head to toe. Her childhood was filled with frequent visits to pediatricians, dermatologists, and alternative health care practitioners to help cure, or at least control, her psoriasis. Each doctor visit became one disappointment after another, as all the medical professionals focused on treating her symptoms rather than getting to the root cause of the problem – what she was putting into her body. Consequently, all attempts failed. When Kristi was 19 years old, her mother, a Registered Nurse for 27 years, studied to become a Traditional Naturopath. She was able to uncover the root cause of Kristi’s psoriasis and introduced her to a line of whole food supplements called Standard Process. The supplements and her new individualized nutrition plan cleared the psoriasis and gave Kristi a level of confidence she had never before experienced. Holistic Nutrition gave Kristi back her LIFE. Join us as we speak to Kristi, hear her story and get tips to a healthier you! 00:42:00OUTREACH RADIO SHOWnoKristi Acuna,Nutrition,Holistic Health, whole foods, wellnessMany people come to Holistic Health in desperation. She spent 26 years in prison for protecting her life from her abuser, and is the founder of the first abuse support group within the U.S.prison system. In the early 1990s, Convicted Women Against Abuse (CWAA) played an active role in a California effort to establish precedence for the psychological circumstances of battered women's lives. Brenda and her fellow inmates decided to try to make change in a system that did not recognize the intricacies of an abusive relationship. Through careful orchestration of media coverage, and legislative hearings, a movement was started from behind prison walls and laws were changed. In 1992, Battered Women’s Syndrome became legally defined and mandatory for use in, the cases of battered women, to help explain to a jury the possibilities that might lead to these types of crimes and circumstances. Ultimately, Brenda had the opportunity to petition the courts and be released on October 22, 2008. Her story is the subject of the life changing documentary “Sin By Silence” which aired on Investigation Discovery in 2011. Since Brenda was released on October 22, 2008, she has traveled across the U.S. as a professional speaker and advocate for victims of abuse. She is the founder and Executive Director of "Every 9 Seconds" and has repeatedly been a guest expert on HLN's Jane Valez Mitchell Show. He had first flown in under enemy radar with an Evangelical group purporting to buy slaves en masse to secure their freedom. Afterwards, on his own, he hitched a ride on a U.N. Cessna to the frontlines of the north-south Sudanese civil war. There he met Muong Nyong. Like Benjamin, Nyong was 27 at the time, and pondering what to do with the rest of his life. Unlike Benjamin, he had spent the first part of that life in bondage. After meeting Nyong, Ben Skinner traveled the globe to find others like him. Scholars estimate the total number of modern-day slaves is greater than at any point in history. But the number means nothing, unless slavery means something.  Tune in Tues, March 3rd at 9 pm.
