The Best Picture winner from this year, CAVALCADE, is probably one of the more forgettable of Best Picture winners, but tune in tonight to hear clips and discussion about this film and others from the time period that should have perhaps won (I mean, look at these other films that should have won ... I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG, KING KONG, and 42ND STREET!) The series will resume again in 2010 after the 82nd Oscar season is complete!

But because of so much of the news from the past week, including the loss of three entertainment legends, I will instead tonight discuss all this latest news and pay tribute to the giants we lost this past week. Besides discussing the deaths and the legendary lives of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson (all memorable in different ways from when some of us grew up) ... there's also a great deal of new changes recently announced by the Academy concerning the Academy Awards, so we'll discuss those ... as well as discussing the overwhelming power of technology in this day and age ... particularly in reference to what has happened in Iran recently.
