Tonight we will consider the near-death experience. The theories about what happens when we die are innumerable and as diverse as humanity itself. Are we to be rewarded, punished, judged, pampered, or even tortured eternally, or does it all just end with our last breath? The answers from those who supposedly know are confusing at best and threatening at worst. The atheists claim there is no afterlife, no thought beyond death, while Christians promise a wonderful divine retirement home called Heaven, unless of course you just happen to be an atheist. We will explore death and what follows. Is the concept of death a lie to keep us afraid of it? Wouldn't that be an irony if the only think we can't escape besides taxes and fear the most turns out to be no threat at all? And, of course we'll also talk about insanity, or what's going on in politics this week and if the U.S. will actually go into default.
