"First, please don’t blame yourself for getting ill or becoming disabled. It’s not a personal failing on your part. Self-blame only adds mental suffering to your physical suffering. Second, learn to treat yourself with kindness. We’re taught to be kind to others but often don’t know how to be kind to ourselves."

Toni Bernhard teaches us to love ourselves despite our illnesses through her writing and her website. Her book "How to Be Sick: A Buddhist-Inspired Guide for the Chronically Ill and Their Caregivers" will inspire you to live a fuller, mentally healthier life.

Please join us as we talk with Toni and she shares her journey from law professor to life with chronic illness, including her most pivotal moments as well as her personal triumphs.
