Have researchers in Spain's Basque Country made the find of a lifetime, or committed a very expensive fraud? At a series of press conferences in his hometown, Eliseo Gil announced the discovery of several pottery sherds and other artifacts dating to around the third century a.d. with some remarkable graffiti scratched into them. One sherd depicted the Calvary scene, making it one of the oldest images of Christ's crucifixion. Some animal bones were engraved with the name of Egyptian queen Nefertiti, while inscriptions written in hieroglyphics and Latin appeared on other sherds. Also found were the earliest messages written in the Basque language. Sounds a lot like Burrows Cave stuff, doesn't it?

    Jay Wakefield, 5 April

Jay Wakefield of Kirkland, Washington and Dr Reinoud de Jonge of The Netherlands co-authored the amazing book, How the Sun God Reached America, which chronicles their decoding of abstract petroglyphs found along the shores of the Atlantic discovering that they are actually sea-faring maps inscribed by early precolumbian mariners (pre-alphabet and pre-ogam) that regularily sailed the North Atlantic between the new and the old worlds.

How the SunGod came to America

    From the website:
"This is the only book providing solid evidence, reasonable explanations, and comprehensive dating for megalithic petroglyphs and monuments. It will fascinate anyone interested in old religions, little-known petroglyphs, ancient seafaring, voyages of discovery, and the prehistory of Europe and America."
I agree that it fascinates!! Their combination of accepted dating techniques with openminded investigation makes for a compelling interpretation of those examples of ancient rockart.

Jay's enthusasm for this subject promises to make this a very interesting segment.

    Frozen Trail

Dr. Myron Paine began six years ago to write a fictional story of the Norse people who vanished from Greenland about 1350.  The more he read for background knowledge, the more he became convinced that the Norse people had walked on the ice from Greenland to America.

He created Frozen Trail web site to present the hypothesis of Norse walking to America in the Little Ice Age.

In the process he found two major pieces of written evidence: the Walam Olum, a 600 year old historical account of the Lenape (Delaware) and Shawnee Indians, and an eight volume set of books with 15,000 comparisons between the Algonquin language and Old Norse.

But he also became aware that people from many other cultures visited ancient America.  He has often presented a speech entitled, The Many Model: Many people came to ancient America in many boats from many places at many times.

Recently Dr. Paine was surprised to discover that the 15,000 comparisons could decipher every word of the Walam Olum.  The decipherment implies that the ancient Indian history was created by people speaking Old Norse, the Walam Olum does describe a migration across ice, and is authentic.

The March 29th interview with Myron will likely concentrate on the icy migration by the ancestors of the Algonquin nation, but this really could go anywhere.
