    Join Rachelle as she talks to cece peri Cece’s poetry has appeared in literary journals and anthologies including Speechless the Magazine, San Gabriel Valley Poetry Quarterly, Untangled: Stories & Poetry from the Women and Girls of WriteGirl, Gift of Words: Poems for the Iraqi People and is forthcoming in The Poetry Mystique: Inside the Contemporary Poetry Workshop from Duende Books. In 2006, she was the recipient of the first Anne Silver Poetry Award. In 2008, she was chosen to read at the prestigious Newer Poets / ALOUD Series at the Los Angeles Public Library. In September, 2009, one of her poems was selected as "Poem of the Month" by Writers at Work and is online at WritersatWork.com. In Los Angeles, she co-hosts the Light the Sky Poetry Series in the Metro Café at Eagle Rock Plaza on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. In October, 2009, The Light the Sky series was selected to be part of the NEA’s “The Big Read: Robinson Jeffers and the Ecologies of Poetry.” Cece holds a doctorate in social psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and consults on research design. She was born and raised in New York City.

    join Rafael as he talks to Michelle Mitchell-Foust Michelle Mitchell-Foust received her Ph.D. in Creative Writing from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and she is the author of two poetry books, Circassian Girl (Elixir Press) and Imago Mundi (Elixir Press) and two chapbooks, Poets at Seven (Sutton Hoo Press) and Exile (Sangha Press). She was the winner of the Elixir Press Poetry Prize, the Nation/”Discovery” Award, the Columbia University Poetry Prize, a Writers At Work Fellowship, the Missouri Arts Council Biennial Award, two University of Missouri-Columbia Creative Writing Fellowships, and an Academy of American Poets Prize. Her first book, Circassian Girl, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Her work has appeared in The Nation, The Washington Post, Antioch Review, and Colorado Review, among many other magazines, and her work has been anthologized in Wild Flowers Every Year (James Publishing), Chapter and Verse (HWA), New Voices: University and College Poetry Prizes (The Academy of American Poets), The Best of Writers at Work Anthology (Pecan Grove Press), and The Missouri Arts Council Biennial Anthology (The Missouri Review), She has edited several literary and scholarly journals, including The Missouri Review and Oral Tradition. She was an American Poet in Residence at the Poets’ House in Donegal, Ireland for ten years as well as being a founder/coordinator of the Casa Romantica Reading Series, and she has just finished a graduate degree in mathematics education at the University of California-Irvine. She teaches Geometry at Lorin Griset Academy and lives in Dana Point, California with her husband Kevin.

    Join Rachelle as she talks to Poet R AC H E L M C K I B B E N S is an ex-punk rock chola with five children. Known for her astonishingly visceral stage presence and devotion to craft, McKibbens has become one of the most respected poets in the spoken word community. She is the 2009 Women of the World poetry slam champion, is an eight-time National Poetry Slam team member, a three-time NPS finalist, and a 2007 New York Foundation for the Arts poetry fellow and Pushcart nominee. For four years, she co-curated the award-winning louderARTS Project reading series in New York City, coaching their poetry slam team to three consecutive National Poetry Slam final stages. She teaches poetry and creative writing throughout the country, from housing projects and needle exchanges to high schools, hospitals and universities. McKibbens was a mentor for Urban Word NYC, teaching poetry at Bellevue Hospital through The Healing Arts Program, targeting at-risk youth. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including The Acentos Review, The November 3rd Club, Frigg Magazine, The Pedestal Magazine, Melusine, Wicked Alice, World Literature Today, Bowery Women: Poems, and So Luminous, the Wildflowers. She co-wrote the play-in-verse Eight Chamber Hunger Orchestra which premiered at the Bowery Poetry Club in Spring of 2007 to a capacity crowd. She has shared stages with Nikki Giovanni, Kanye West, Billy Collins, Martin Espada, Ellyn Maybe, Eve Ensler and Nick Flynn. She was featured in the slam documentary, Slam Planet
