God first. People now. It is not Black versus White, nor Muslim versus Christian, nor man versus woman, nor rich versus poor, nor government versus the people. It is, however, virtue versus vice. We are all just people relating to people. we do not claim to have equal opportunity opinions. we do not claim to think we all have the right to do whatever makes us happy. we do not claim to be the authority on anything other than our opinions. we respect your time. we apprieciate you. be easy. and enjoy. please join us wednesdays at 11 p

A Moment of silence for Kanye West's Mom

Dr. Donda West, author, manager and mother to Grammy-award winning Kanye West, died early Sunday morning in Los Angeles.

While the cause of death for the retired English professor was not known at press time, what is known is what a devastating effect her passing is to have on her son. Dr. West was mentioned in several of Kanye's songs, including his tribute to her, "Hey Mama," from 2005's Late Registration. A constant fixture with her son on the red carpet, earlier this year, Dr. West released a book, Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar.

"She was everyone’s mom, a spirit never dies, a spirit lasts forever.”

Dr. West was also instrumental in Kanye's charity work, serving as Chair of the Kanye West Foundation, which lists its mission as "[helping] to combat the severe dropout problem in high schools across the United States by developing student-centered programs geared towards increased literacy, heightened self-worth, independent thinking and self-actualization through the arts."

In an interview with Chicago's WGCI, Kanye collaborator Rhymefest, who co-wrote the hit "Jesus Walks," said, "She was everyone’s mom, a spirit never dies, a spirit lasts forever."

The unfortunate and sudden passing of Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda West, saddens me, the city of Chicago, and the entire country. We will continue to pray for Kanye and his family during this difficult time.

What a tangled web we weave

You know, some things are just meant to be.   My plan was to talk about accountability of ourselves. So many times in life people and things for some reason just freak out. We are sidetracked by life and those that have the power to help do so for a while then if it is not fixed quick, we dump it.

In the middle of me preparing to bring my beloved listeners a provoking thought, my switchboard freaks out and played my tracks over and over and over. You were there. You heard it and was like, what the world is this guy doing? Hearing the stress of my voice, Im sure you empathised with me, laughed and shook your heads. I thank you for bearing with me today.

I wanted so bad to scrap the segment and throw my computer out of the window. Then I thought, that would make me a hypocrit to the very subject I was speaking on. I contiued.  For some reason I had a clear vision that something I said would cause action and movement in some one today.

Isn't this so much like life. We are now living in a world that if something isn't working, we toss it to the side and get something new.

Is this what we have come to?

If you are that one that heard the mixed matched show today, shoot me an email. If you were one of the ones that looked at your computer and said 'WTF' and logged off, shoot me an email  or call into the next OneVoice  Provocative radio show and we can talk about it.
