ARE U A VICTIM OF MOLESTATION? LEARN HOW U CAN HELP!

    IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT

    Dear Friends,

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank those of you who took the time out to tune into my Radio Show this past Thursday, March 22, 2007. If you have not yet had the opportunity to listen, I strongly encourage that you do so now, not for my sake, but for the sake of our children.

My own personal story is not that different from the many disheartening stories that are told by victims of rape or molestation. I just lived to tell about it. I knew at some point I would want to do a Radio Show about this very touchy subject matter because I realize that so many of you have been victims as well, or may potentially know someone that has been . . .

"Molestation" and "Rape" are very dirty words, and when said out loud it makes even some of the toughest people cringe. Although I was adamant on doing a show about this, initially, I wasn't even sure if I would have the courage enough to publicly admit that I too experienced such trauma as a child, knowing that it would take me back to an emotional place that I did not want to revisit. But, I knew deep within my heart that I had to step forward and reveal my "secret" regardless of what the outcome would be, or how it would be received. This issue is much bigger than myself . . .

Suffice to say, I was a bit nervous coming right out and saying, "I was a victim of Molestation." -- Whoa! It's difficult for me to even write, let alone, say! I mean, I am a "publicist" that works ever so diligently to keep my various clients in the public eye, and to offer "crisis management" in any event that bad press is released about them . . . Now, here I am as this "publicist," choosing to open my own closet full of skeletons to reveal to you all . . . There was no one that offered me "intervention" or crisis management when I was going through all this sh*t . . . Only if they did, perhaps life would have gone a lot smoother for me -- Or, at least I would have had developed the proper coping skills to deal with everything in a healthy manner. Instead, I had to wrestle with these demons my whole life on my own.

I suggested to my Co-Host, William that I wanted to do a show on this particular topic and he said, "It's going to open a lot of wounds," and he was right -- It did. Not just for me, but for the many of you out there that wrote into me after my show aired with YOUR OWN stories. I am so glad that there was that voice inside me that said, "I have to do this in efforts to reach out to others who may be hurting inside as a result of what someone may have did to them." I do NOT want anyone to ever have to feel as though they face this all alone, as I felt many times. Look, I am certainly no psychological expert, nor will I try to be, but I am someone who truly understands first hand what the many of you are going through because I also lived it. I may not always have "the right thing to say," or all the answers to your problems, but I do know how to listen and I surely can point you in the right direction to get the type of help you do need.

I am not just some face you see on "Myspace" with fancy pictures that desires fame and fortune because I happen to work in the "Hollywood scene." Frankly, I could careless about all that sh*t because I know underneath it all, I am a real person that has a real story to share with all of you. I literally clawed and scraped my way out of disparity tooth and nail to overcome a lot of the obstacles that were placed within my path. And guess what? -- I am still clawing and scraping each and every single day! Some days are much easier than others, and I truly believe that everyday I am growing stronger. You too, will grow stronger if you invite the healing process to begin and take it, "one day at a time."

I can never regain my innocence that was first stolen from me as a four year old child, but I can choose to heal from it and I can choose to help others from having to face this alone. No, I can't save the world, but I promise I will use my voice and my public face to draw attention to these issues and fight to help as many as I can until these laws are changed so that these innocent children do not have to suffer senselessly by the hand of those manipulative cowards! Not all sex offenders have been caught and convicted. Most sex offenses are committed by family, friends or acquaintances of the victim.

  • 2 of 3 sexual abuses are perpetrated against teenagers or younger children.
  • 90% of sexual assaults are committed against someone the perpetrator knows.
  • The median age for male molestation victims under 18 is 9.8 years old.
  • The median age for female molestation victims under 18 is 9.6 years old.

  • There are over 100,000 sex offenders that fail to register in the US.
  • 76% of serial rapists claim they were molested as children.
  • Over 40% of male juvenile delinquents were molested as children.

I cannot fight this fight alone, and I am reaching out to all of you out there reading this and ask that you join my efforts to help aide these children. "Please, Protect the babies!" Whether you have personally been a victim of Rape, Incest, or Molestation, abuse, or not, we need your help. Let's pull together to get these laws changed!

I finally made it through my own personal struggle and I am putting my own story out there in the public eye as an activist to help educate. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! If you're reading this right now, then NOW you know! So, what are YOU going to do about it?

Please stay tuned for the rest of my 3-Part Series on this subject matter on My Radio Show, On Da Set. For Savant Entertainment & On Da Set Radio

Special Thanks to CEO, Alan Levy of BlogTalk Radio for creating an outlet for me to speak on my own Internet Radio Show.

For those of you who do not know, Oprah Winfrey was also a victim of repetitive molestation. In her own efforts to aide our children, she has prewritten a letter that you may all copy/paste into an email to send to your governor, and a pdf file that you can also download and print to fax or mail. This only takes a short moment out of your day to do this, so please do NOT just be one of those people that read this blog and think to yourself, "Wow, that's sad," then log off of your computer forgetting that it doesn't exist. Do NOT sit idly by and ignore my plea for your help.

Please take a proactive approach! Get up off your ass to do something!
You may save a child's life!

If there are enough of us that pull together by writing to our governor, this will help ensure that all the state mandates within the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act are fully implemented. The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act was signed into law by U.S. President George W. Bush on July 27, 2006. The legislation organizes sex offenders into 3 tiers, and mandates that Tier 3 offenders update their whereabouts every 3 months. It makes failure to register and update information a felony. It also creates a national sex offender registry and instructs each state and territory to apply identical criteria for posting offender data on the Internet (i.e., offender's name, address, date of birth, place of employment, photograph, etc.).

Unfortunately, this law isn't being mandated in all states within the U.S., so I urge you to help make this happen by writing to your Governor and Senator now!

  • CLICK HERE to download a copy of The Prewritten Letter to Email, Fax, or Mail to the Governor of your state. Half of the work is already done for you, all YOU have to do is SEND IT!
  • CLICK HERE to visit the U.S. Government Website where you can find your Governor's e-mail address, mailing address and fax number in your state.
Once you have sent in a letter to your Governor,
now you can Write to Congress!
Let Congress Know you want the Laws changed Now!

  • CLICK HERE to download a copy of The Prewritten Letter to Your Senator in Congress.
  • CLICK HERE to visit Congress.Org to locate your Senators' Email and Mailing Address to send your prewritten letter Now.
  • CLICK HERE to download and review a copy of the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee's Legislative Notice to View the Bill Provisions of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act.

http://www.nsopr.gov  The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Registry, coordinated by the Department of Justice, is a cooperative effort between the state agencies hosting public sexual offender registries and the federal government. This web site is a search tool allowing a user to submit a single national query to obtain information about sex offenders through a number of search options.

http://www.freesexoffenderlookup.org  Due to the passing of Megan's Law, convicted sex offenders must register with local police in the communities in which they live. The Child Safe Network provides parents and guardians with the ability to search these databases of convicted sex offenders.

http://www.familywatchdog.us  This is another great website that contains a database of convicted sex offenders. They also include State Definitions so that you may know the laws within your state.

I have compiled a list of online resources and hotline numbers below, which I encourage you all to utilize. Please also pass these on to someone you may know. "Each One, Teach One."

http://www.missingkids.com The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is a private, non-profit organization established in the United States in 1984 under United States government mandate. The NCMEC acts as clearinghouse of information and as a contact point to parents, children, law enforcement agencies, schools, and communities providing assistance to help recover missing children and to raise public awareness about ways to help prevent child abduction, molestation, and sexual exploitation. The Congressional mandate leading to establishment of the Center was advocated by John Walsh and others as a result of frustration stemming from the lack of resources and coordination between law enforcement and other government agencies after the abduction and murder of Adam Walsh, the six-year old son of John Walsh.

http://www.amberalert.gov  AMBER Alert is a proven success and has helped rescue more than 230 children nationwide. More than 85 percent of those recoveries have occurred since AMBER Alert became a nationally coordinated effort in 2002.

http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov  California's Megan's Law provides the public with certain information on the whereabouts of sex offenders so that members of our local communities may protect themselves and their children. Megan's Law is named after seven-year-old Megan Kanka, a New Jersey girl who was raped and killed by a known child molester who had moved across the street from the family without their knowledge. In the wake of the tragedy, the Kankas sought to have local communities warned about sex offenders in the area. All states now have a form of Megan's Law.

http://www.perverted-justice.com  Perverted Justice, as seen on "To Catch a Predator" on Dateline NBC. In general, the organization's volunteers are motivated by the idea of getting pedophiles out of chat-rooms by either working with law enforcement, to educate parents via our work with the media and to ultimately scare predators and pedophiles away from approaching kids and teens online. So far, the awesome vigilantes at Perverted Justice has also identified over 783 Myspace pages of registered sex offenders, and counting! Along with reporting these offenders to Myspace, they have also reported many to their local probation or parole officer. Quite a few weren't supposed to have such pages and now not only do they NOT have those pages, but some of these guys have gotten in trouble for it! If YOU would like to know more information on how YOU can become a volunteer to catch these online predators, please visit their website! PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!

http://www.cybertipline.com  The CyberTipLine allows parents and children to file a report by submitting an online form. This form is then reviewed by analysts and forwarded to law enforcement including the FBI, the U.S. Customs Service, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and state and local police agencies

http://www.childseeknetwork.com  One of the best resources online for people who wish to support abduction victims directly. Child Seek Network often establishes personal communication centers for the parents of still-abducted teens and pre-teens, offering a de facto online counseling resource for the grief-stricken.

http://www.loveourchildrenusa.org  Love Our Children USA™ is the leading national nonprofit organization that honors and respects children. Their mission is to break the cycle of violence against children. Love Our Children USA™ has become the go-to prevention organization for all forms of violence and neglect against children in the U.S. They work to eliminate behaviors that keep children from reaching their potential.

http://www.jfcadvocacy.org  Justice for Children is a national child advocacy organization. The purpose of Justice for Children is to provide a full range of advocacy and services for abused and neglected children; that includes legal advocacy, public policy monitoring, guidance through a complex child protective system, professional referrals, mental health services, court watch, research, education, and emotional support.

http://www.dvinstitute.org  The Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community (IDVAAC) is an organization focused on the unique circumstances of African Americans as they face issues related to domestic violence – including intimate partner violence, child abuse, elder maltreatment, and community violence. IDVAAC's mission is to enhance society's understanding of and ability to end violence in the African-American community. Within this context, IDVAAC works with African-American communities, including families, individuals, and organizations serving the target population; legal and criminal justice systems; family and community violence practitioners; researchers; and policymakers around efforts to build the knowledge base regarding African Americans and domestic violence and to develop strategies to meet the service needs of this population.

http://www.rasac-safeatlast.net  Safe At Last offers a curriculum that gives children the tools they need to fight sexual predators, bullies and peer pressure while holding sacred the innocence of their childhood. It is done through a varied curriculum of age appropriate interactive games, role playing skits, videos and more – all designed to not only teach, but to train them on how to act and react in difficult situations.

http://www.rainn.org  The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization and has been ranked as one of "America's 100 Best Charities" by Worth magazine.  Among its programs, RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE. This nationwide partnership of more than 1,100 local rape treatment hotlines provides victims of sexual assault with free, confidential services around the clock. The hotline helped 137,039 sexual assault victims in 2005 and has helped more than one million since it began in 1994.

http://www.mencanstoprape.org  Men Can Stop Rape (formerly Men's Rape Prevention Project) empowers male youth and the institutions that serve them to work as allies with women in preventing rape and other forms of men's violence. Through awareness-to-action education and community organizing, they promote gender equity and build men's capacity to be strong without being violent.
