Eric Tong is a first year medical student at Florida International University. At FIU, he sits on the Student Professionalism and Ethics Committee. In 2016, he graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. At Columbia, he worked in the Cell Engineering Laboratory on cartilage tissue engineering for four years and as a clinical researcher trained to do qualitative interviewing at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was also the cofounder of the Columbia Maker Space, a workspace opened to all students to work on 3D printing, laser cutting, circuit building, woodworking, and more. His specialty in the was in graphic design, rapid prototyping, and 3D modeling. During his free time, he played piano for the inpatients at the psychiatric department at St. Luke’s Hospital.
