Amy Thielen is a chef, writer, and television personality who trains her focus on the particulars of Midwestern cooking and eating. She is the author of The New Midwestern Table (Clarkson Potter, 2013), the host of Heartland Table on Food Network, and is a James Beard Award-winning food writer. She lived in New York City for 9 years, where she cooked professionally in the kitchens of chefs David Bouley, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Daniel Boulud, and Shea Gallante. In 2008 she, along with her husband, artist Aaron Spangler, and their son, moved back home to their place in the country in northern Minnesota.
