Richard Brooks is an actor/director/singer-songwriter, best known for his powerful portrayal of ADA Paul Robinette in the original cast of the long-running, "Law and Order" television series. His extensive acting credits include numerous substantial roles on television, film and stage that have shown his versatility to shine through any genre.
His notable performances include the notorious bounty hunter in Joss Whedon's "Firefly," the iconic Henry McNeil in the Sy/Fy/USA network cult favorite "Good vs. Evil," and pivortal guest appearances on "NCIS," "NYPD Blue," and "Lie to Me."
Along with his impressive resume of television credits, Brooks has also lit up the big screen with his unforgettable characters in"The Crow: City of Angels," "To Sleep with Anger," and the critically acclaimed Vietnam War saga, "84 Charlie Mopic." Brooks also starred as Frederick Douglas in the PBS documentary series, The American Experience's three-part docudrama, "Souls on Fire: The Abolitionists."
Most recently, Brooks commands the television screen again in the new original BET cable series, "Being Mary Jane," starring as title character Gabrielle Union's brother Patrick. From the producers of the award-winning BET comedy, "The Game," and the No.1 box office movie, "Jumping the Broom," the new original series is a story to which millions of modern women will both relate and respond to. The series premiered July 2 as one of the most successful pilots for the BET network, garnering over 4 million viewers.
