Will Ackerman is universally recognized as the preeminent pioneer in the new age music movement and founder of Windham Hill Records, with a career that spans more than three decades of remarkable vision, determination, business savvy and a complete love of the mystery of making music. In the glory years at W.H. with Will at the helm, the careers of an abundant list of acoustic instrumentalists became household names, with the primary influence cast on contemporary music over thirty-plus years emanated from folk roots, acoustic guitar, and piano. This legacy remains with Ackerman ina uniquely prolific and peerless career.
The walls of Will's "Imaginary Road" studio are lined with gold, platinum, and multi-platinum records representing the millions of albums sold when Windham Hill Records rose to prominence. The first being George Winston's "Autumn." The studio is a feverish hub of activity, with a revolving door of acoustic instrumentalists from across the country, and around the world, with piano and guitar continuing to be the most popular solo instruments recorded and produced under Ackerman's direction.
Will's latest recording titled, "Meditations," was released in 2008. In July of 2008, Meditations chated at No. 1, with the second highest reporting numbers ever recorded by "New Age Reporter," only superceded by Jeff Oster's "True," produced by Ackerman.
