Best known as "Jimmy Mattingly" in "That Thing You Do!," starring Tom Hanks and Charlize Theron, the handsome Johnathon Schaech can be seen next in the highly-anticipated Showtime drama, "Ray Donovan," alongside Liev Schreiber and jon Voight. The series follows Schreiber's character, 'Ray Donovan,' a professional "fixer" for the rich and famous. Schaech's character, 'Sean Stevens,' is a major movie star with a mysterious connection to Ray.
He can also be seen in the upcoming theatrical thriller, "7500," as 'Captain Haining,' which is set for release on August 31st. Also upcoming, Schaech plays 'Pavlov' in the submarine thriller, "Phantom," with Ed Harris and David Duchovny.
Acting has proved to be an extremely successful career path for Schaech and he has since decided to use his stardom to further his philanthropic endeavors. His unsurpassed passion, devotion, and intelligence have earned him a spot on the board of directors for the charity, "Adopt the Arts," (alongside Matt Sorum, Billy Bob Thornton, Juliette Lewis, and John Stamos). As a child put in remedial classes due to his distaste for spelling and grammar, Schaech found solace in the arts. When he learned that the government was cutting funding for art programs across the country, he knew he had to get involved. He recently spoke in front of Congress in Washington DC with Alec Baldwin to address the issue.
