Marc Murphy grew up as the son of a globetrotting diplomat, living in exotic destinations such as Milan, Paris, Villefranche, Rome, Genoa, and Washington, D.C. by a young age. Instead of being stressful, all of the exposure to various cuisines served as an excellent education in both the French and Italian cuisines, and afforde him the luxury of learning how much he loved the world of cooking and restaurants.
Since then, Chef Murphy as had more than 20 years in the restaurant business, working in some of the world's most esteemed kitchens, including, "Le Miraville" in Paris, Alain Ducasse' Luis XV in Monte Carlo, and Le Cirque in New York. He was also the Executive Chef at "Cellar in the Sky" at "Windows on the World" in the World Trace Center, La Fourchette, and Chinoiserie. In 2004, Murphy opened his first shop with the Landmarc (Tribeca) and today serves as Executive Chef and owner of all of the restaurants in the Benchmarc Restaurants Group, including Landmarc (May, 2007), Ditch Plains Upper West Village (May, 2006) as well as the catering arm of the group, Benchmarc Events by Marc Murphy. y's involvement in the industry moves beyond the restaurants, with a regular role as judge on Food Network's "Chopped" series, as well as appearances on "Iron Chef America," "The Best Thing I Ever Ate," "Unique Eats," and the Martha Stewart and "Today" shows, and is both the official spokesperson and a member of the Task Force for "Share our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry" campaign.
