Elissa Bernstein is the 19-year-old writer, baker, and photographer behind the internationally acclaimed food blog "17 and Baking". The Seattle teen began baking in the 8th grade and discovered a passion for creating and blogging custom desserts. As a college sophomore in Boston, Elissa continues to work as a freelance writer, photographer, and baker. With a readership spanning six continents, Elissa has been featured in publications and sites, including "Food & Wine," "Family Circle Magazine," "AOL Food," "Justine Magazine," "MarthaStewart.com," "Gourmet Live," "Epicurious," "The Seattle Times," and "Boston.com." She has spoken as a panelist for Kodak at the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES) '11 in Las Vegas, and at BlogHer Food '11, in Atlanta. "17 and Baking" was voted "Best Blog Written By a Teen" in the 2010 Weblog Awards, the Web's longest running blog awards, and has been featured by Wordpress under "Growing Blogs," "Top Posts," and "Freshly Pressed."
Elissa was recently named in the teen category as one of "Food and Wine" magazines Top Culinary Icons, along such esteemed chefs as Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, and Thomas Keller. The busy young blogger, baker, and college student has just returned from a semester abroad based in the Netherlands, which incorporated weekly travel throughout Europe and into Africa.
