Sean Kanan attended Boston University, where he satisfied his extracurricular requirements with acting courses and pursued roles on local television productions. After a role on the Boston based “Spencer: For Hire,” he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting as well as finish his degree in Political Science at UCLA. One of his first major Hollywood roles was as Ralph Macchio’s nemesis in “The Karate Kid III.” He then appeared on the small screen in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Outsiders” and Oliver Stone’s “Wild Palms,” eventually moving to roles on “General Hospital,” “Sunset Beach” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Other credits include guest roles on, “Freddy,” “Who’s the Boss?,” “VIP,” “The Nanny,” “Walker: Texas Ranger” and “Lois and Clark.” , "True Jackson VIP".

After a long run as 'Deacon Sharpe' on the CBS daytime drama, "The Bold And The Beautiful," and a leading role in the feature film, "Sons Of Italy," and producing and starring in another film, "HACK," Sean found his character 'Deacon' landing in Genoa City, on "The Young And The Restless," where his complex character continues to manipulate and wreak havoc in characters' lives.

There's another side to the multi-talented Sean, who, in addition to acting, writing, and producing, finds his funny side doing stand-up in the comedy club circuit and making numerous appearances at the world famous Hollywood Improv, The Laugh Factory, and the HaHa, where he offers his perspective on 10 years in daytime television, as well as living in Italy.

Recently Kanan was tapped to star in "Prodigal," filmed entirely on location in New York City. "Prodigal" was helmed by Julie Pacino (daughter of acclaimed actor, Al Pacino,) her directorial debut.
