"BETTER OFF TED"

Jonathan Slavin currently co-stars on ABC’s quirky comedy “Better Off Ted” with Jay Harrington and Portia de Rossi. This is a work place comedy and Jonathan plays the über geek researcher ‘Phil’ and along with his lab partner ‘Lem’ (Malcolm Barrett) the two geniuses make up the brains of Veridian Dynamics but they lack normal people skills.

Slavin was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. A self-described ‘misfit” he found his voice at 14 when he was cast in his first play. He then studied and performed for the next few years in New England, upstate New York and Oxford. He made his way to New York doing theatre. He was cast in “The Best of Schools” at Ubu Repertory Theater and then went on to Lincoln Center and finally to Broadway in Wendy Wassestein’s “The Sisters Rosensweig”. He also did “Six Degrees of Separation” in Dallas and “The Destiny of Me” in Los Angeles.

Slavin is most known for his portrayal of neurotic ‘Byron Togler’ on the Fox network’s sitcom “Andy Richter Controls the Universe”. Prior to that the role which got Slavin noticed was the memorable turn as ‘Ice Cream Guy’ on NBC’s “Caroline in the City." Slavin has been working in television ever since on “My Name is Earl," “Summerland," “Grey’s Anatomy," “CSI," “Bones,” and “Friends”.

Slavin is a longtime activist, dedicating much of his time to animal rights and is a confirmed vegan and animal rescuer, sharing his home with four dogs, seven cats, a cockatoo and a pig. He is an” out” actor and has marched in more LGBT rights parades than he can count, and has twice participated in the California AIDS Ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
