In this episode of AKANFO NANASOM, we address the origin and meaning of the name 'Kamit'. The medutu (hieroglyphs) comprising the word Kamit are rooted in cosmology. Only a proper understanding of cosmology allows us to properly define the term. Kamit, the 'Black Country/Nation' and 'Black Land' would later be called 'Egypt' by the whites and their offspring. The cosmology undergirding the name can be found in Akan culture today.
