What's up everybody, you're listening to Obsidian Radio: LIVE! - the Voice, of the Everyday Brotha! I'm your host Mumia Obsidian Ali, welcome to the program and thank you for listening. The past few years has seen an explosion of discussion in the media about "body acceptance" - "fat shaming", "fat acceptance", "colorism" and so forth, all centers on the idea that there shouldn't be a narrow "norm" for what is considered attractive...insofar as women are concerned. What's not nearly discussed is the fact that heightism - discrimination against shorter statured people and men in particular - is something that is not only well documented but is practiced early and often by women themselves, often in ways that if it were done to larger or darker ladies, the offending men in question would be run out of polite society. Short Guy Central, a well known writer and blogger out of NYC, joins yours truly for an eye-opening discussion on this issue and what it would really look like to challenge the prevailing norms of what an attractive can and should be. Join us with your calls at 516.387.1345 - the action begins at 7pm EDT!
