I call my friend & colleague James de Vries one of The Exceptionals in the world of design. As Creative Director at Harvard Business Review Group, James is also Owner/Creative Director of Australian-based de Luxe & Associates.

The back story: after de Luxe  & Associates beat out the competition to redesign the storied Harvard Business Review in 2009, James built on the successful results of the project and moved to the USA with his family to take up the role of Creative Director. With a mandate to develop the HBR brand across all print, digital and everything else media. James continues to write on design and guest-lecture at conferences and design school, and de Luxe’s projects continue to win recognition in Australia, Asia and the United States.

In Australia, De Luxe developed a reputation as the leading designers for editorial communication in the region, with projects that included significant typographic, design and organizational change for The Australian Financial Review,  Sydney Morning Herald, Sun-Herald, The Melbourne Age, The West Australian , The South China Morning Post, Indonesia’s Globe Media, The New Zealand Herald, Westpac Private Bank.
