Nutmeg's Mix

Nutmeg’s Mix is a show about whatever Nutmeg feels like saying or playing. Nutmeg rambles alot and plays mostly independent/local music, and also some mainstream music too. Originally, the show was about the listener, and the many talents that you may have out there. She wants to feature musicians, poets, cosplay, visual artists, video gamers, sports, film makers, comedians – hobbies and talents of all types. Every show is a sort of an open-mic night, and there was supposed to be a discussion on a specific issue each show. Nutmeg still would like to run her show this way, however since there's not a whole lot of audience participation, what's a gal to do? Nutmeg understands you do have better things to do on a Friday night than listen to Internet Radio, and it's all good :) In the future, she would like to do live interviews with bands and other folks Nutmeg knows who are very talented individuals. If you are interested in being a special guest on the show in the future, where we'd have an entire show dedicated you, or you have a topic you want to talk about, or you have any requests, please send her an email at schwartzmeg@yahoo.com or call in whenever live on air at 347-633-9372.

Show Notes

ABOUT ME: I'm a full-time office/desk jockey by day and an internet junkie by night. I have been married 4 years and have a daughter who is 4. I also host an internet radio show every Friday at 10:30PM EST where I talk about random topics and plug the sh*t out of everyone's original work or small business, and play many local/independent artists' music, (not necessarily local to my area, but all areas). No matter how small they may seem, I believe that everyone should follow their dreams, whether they get actual recognition or not, because recognition does not equate to accomplishment. My show gives people a platform if they choose to call in and talk about what they do that makes them special. I also have been writing since childhood and finally compiled my poetry & short stories into a book, titled "Maddening The Silence." Samples from the book to be posted soon in blogs. For your free copy, please email me at schwartzmeg@yahoo.com.

    Date / Time:

    Laugh maker

I was watching Hogan's Heroes reruns after work tonight, and I paid attention closely to that stupid laughing machine. It doesn't even sound like laughter, if you listen closely, it just sounds like stupid noise. The Flintstones also used this effect. What's worse is that they had to use it to clue the audience in as to what parts were funny - the home viewers had to be instructed to laugh. They used it like every 2 seconds. I'm sorry, but the show wasn't that funny.  The laughing maker machine thingie sounded awful. I am very well aware that they didn't have the technology to film "before a live studio audience" back then, I know this. As for the Flintstones, perhaps they thought they were being cute and coy, I don't know. However, I believe that shows that are so-called "taped in front of a live studio audience" are a crock of sh*t too. The laughing sounds the same every time, no matter what the show is. How come no one goes nuts and laughs so loud and obnoxiously, like the I'm-laughing-so-hard-I'm-about-to-piss-myself kinda laughter? Either the machine is simply enhanced to at least sound more like laughter, or they have to redo the scenes whenever someone in their live audience busts a gut, or they hire a bunch of trained jackyls to laugh so montonously and uniformly. I dunno. I just think that the laughing machine is dumb for tv. If the viewer at home doesn't find your show funny, then a stupid half-assed chuckle-f*ck laugh-box isn't going to help.

    Yeah that's all I had.
