‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “After Adam (upon him be peace) happened to commit the sin, as a result of which he was transferred from heaven to earth, he used to spend all of his time weeping, praying and repenting. Once he looked up towards the sky and prayed, “O Allah! I beg You by the right of Muhammad.” “Who is Muhammad?” came the enquiry through Divine revelation. He replied, “When you created me, I saw the words la ilaha illa Allah Muhammad Rasuulullah written on Your Throne, and since then I believed that no human being is superior to Muhammad.” It was revealed, “He is to be the last of the Prophets, and will be your descendant.
