This series is about “Unity” from an Islamic perspective. Many people – especially Muslims – are making the call for unity. What is “Unity?” This text called “Nash ul-Kaafi” or the English “Sufficient Advice” answers this question and more.
“Sufficient Advice” was written by Muhammad Bello (1783 - 1836), the illustrious and scholarly son and successor of Shehu Uthman Dan Fodio, may Allah envelop both of them in His Mercy – Ameen. It is about him that his father said, “Occupy yourselves with reading the works of my son Muhammad Bello, because he is mostly concerned with preserving the science of the politics of the Ummah in accordance with its people, aims, times, places and conditions”.
“Sufficient Advice” was written – not by an armchair scholar, but – by a leader and scholar-warrior who was actively involved in what he was writing about! History testifies to the fact that the principles contained in this text– if adhered to –were (and are) successful in unifying a large Jamaa’ah (community) that almost self-destructed following the death of its charismatic founder.
Commentary and discussion upon this blessed text, by this African descendant of Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, will be facilitated by Imam Na’eem Abdullah of Nur uz-Zamaan Institute.
