Let's talk about Black History. There was a time when there was no recognition or celebration of black history. The only black topic of discussion when I was a little girl in grade school was Uncle Remus'. I dreamed ob being a fire fighter, riding on that big red fire engine. I remember as if it was yesterday, my mother leaned down and spoke carefully into my face. She said to me, "Colored people can't be fire fighters". I never asked why. Back in those days, when a parent spoke a child did not question.
