NWP welcomes the incredable TERRY BROOKS!

Brooks is the first author to make the New York Times Best Seller list in the fantasy writing genre.  Now with over 23 New York Times Best Sellers, movie, video games and tv deals, Terry finds himself busier than ever. Still finding time to give back to his adoped hometown of Seattle, he helps new writers struggling to find their voice.  In fact, Terry wrote a book "Sometimes the Magic Works" to help authors try to write better.

Author of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, Terry is considered to be the second-biggest selling living fantasy writer, behind J.K. Rowling.

An original "nice guy" I talk to Terry about his writing, Seattle and his passion for compassion.

Terry has been writing since the age of 10 but during one semester in college he was given The Lord of the Rings to read.  That moment changed his life forever, because in Tolkien's great work, he found all the elements needed to fully explore his writing combined in one genre.

The Sword of Shannara was born! It become the first work of fiction ever to appear on the New York Times trade paperback bestseller list, where it remained for over 5 months.

Hollywood has been interested in Terry's work for a long time. He has sold the rights to various studios.  Currently Warner Bros. hold the rights to the Landover books with Steve Carell attached to play Ben Holiday.

The Elfstones of Shannara is being looked at for a television series ala Game of Thrones.
