LAND DEVELOPMENT ALWAYS BRINGS INTEREST.  WILL IT CREATE JOBS?  WILL IT COMPLEMENT OR BE A HINDRANCE TO WHAT IS ALREADY IN THE AREA?  WHAT ABOUT THE WATER AND THE NATURAL ELEMENTS?  THE QUESTIONS ARE ENDLESS AND TO LOOK AT THEM REQUIRES SPECIFIC EXAMPLES TO UNDERSTAND.  HERE IN FLORIDA WE HAVE A HUGE NUMBER OF LARGE DEVELOPMENTS ON THE DRAWING BOARD AND SOME HAVE RAISED QUESTIONS BY RESIDENTS CONCERNED WITH THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE AFTERMATH. THE CORPORATE TITANS ALWAYS SAY DON'T WORRY, IT WILL ENHANCE THE AREA YET, OFTEN ENOUGH, JUST THE OPPOSITE IS THE RESULT.  AND THE PROBLEM EXISTS REPEATEDLY ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

MONDAY NIGHT AT 9:30, NORTH FLORIDA WRITER LIVE WILL DISCUSS A PARTICULAR PROJECT, THE PLUM CREEK PLAN IN ALACHUA COUNTY, FLORIDA. THE COMPANY HAS AMBITIOUS PLANS TO LITERALLY BUILD A CITY IN THE SWAMP AND IT HAS ATTRACTED MUCH ATTENTION WITH LARGE BUSINESS GROUPS SUPPORTING AND MANY RESIDENTS OF THE COUNTY OPPOSED.  OUR GUEST WILL BE SCOTT CAMIL, ONE OF THE EARLY FOUNDERS OF A GROUP CALLED STAND BY OUR PLAN WHICH IS WORKING TO MAKE ANY DEVELOPMENT BE SOMETHING THAT WILL NOT ADVERSELY IMPACT WATER AND NATURE WHILE ALLOWING DEVELOPMENT ONLY IN AREAS WHERE "THE LAY OF THE LAND" MAKES SENSE.  FLORIDA HAS HAD GREAT PROBLEMS IN THE PAST WITH DEVELOPING FLOODPRONE AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS.

THE GROUP HAS ATTRACTED MEMBERS ACROSS THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM WHO ARE WORRIED ABOUT THEIR LAND AND THEIR FUTURE.  AS A DISCLAIMER, I AM PERSONALLY ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ORGANIZATION AS WELL. DEVELOPMENT OKAY? YES. WHEREVER THEY WANT? NO. AFTER ALL, FOLKS, THE EARTH IS ONLY ON LOAN TO US FOR THE TIME WE ARE HERE. IT ACTUALLY BELONGS TO GOD.  HOPE YOU'LL JOIN US MONDAY NIGHT.
