LAST WEEK ON JOHNNY REB MEETS BILLY YANK WE DISCUSSED THE POSSIBILITY OF DISASTER STRIKING AMERICA.  I HOPE AND PRAY THAT SUCH AN OUTCOME CAN BE AVOIDED AND THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER POSSIBILITY WHICH COULD COME ABOUT WHICH WOULD BE MUCH LESS CATASTROPHIC AND IT COULD EVEN GIVE WE, THE PEOPLE A BETTER OUTCOME.  THE ONLY QUESTION IS DOES AMERICA HAVE TIME TO GO THROUGH SUCH A PERIOD.

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE, OR SOME MIGHT PREFER TO CALL IT PASSIVE RESISTANCE, WAS SUCCESSFULLY USED ON A NATIONAL SCALE IN THE 20TH CENTURY BY GANDHI IN HIS STRUGGLE TO FREE INDIA OF BRITISH RULE.  MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. USED GANDHI'S APPROACH TO BRING ATTENTION TO THE PLIGHT OF HIS PEOPLE AND TO START A CHAIN OF EVENTS HAPPENING WHICH CHANGED MANY OF OUR LAWS AND SOCIAL RESTRICTIONS.  AND TODAY, WE AMERICANS FIND OURSELVES IN A DIFFERENT SITUATION WHICH IS MUCH DIFFERENT BUT EVEN MORE OUTRAGEOUS: WE HAVE A GOVERNMENT THAT NO LONGER SERVES FOR THE PEOPLE. IT IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE OBVIOUS THAT IT SERVES ONLY THE CHOSEN FEW, EITHER THE POLITICAL CLASS OR THE SELECTED LARGE CORPORATE ENTITIES.

WE'RE GOING TO DISCUSS THIS TOPIC MONDAY NIGHT AND SEE IF SUCH A POSSIBILITY HAS ANY LIKELIHOOD.  I DON'T KNOW IF WE'LL RESOLVE ANYTHING, BUT I DO KNOW THAT AMERICANS ARE FED UP WITH THEIR UNRESPONSIVE GOVERNMENT AND ARE SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN PUT OUR GOVERNMENT BACK IN THE SERVANT ROLE, NOT THE MASTER.

WE'LL TALK ABOUT GANDHI, DR. KING AND ALSO THOMAS JEFFERSON.  WE'LL EVEN SHARE A FEW QUOTES AS AN ATTENTION GETTER FROM EACH OF THESE THREE FAMOUS MEN.

I HOPE YOU'LL TUNE IN.  OUR NATION NEEDS THE CONVERSATION AND A WAY BACK TO THE PRINCIPLES UNDERWHICH IT WAS FOUNDED.
