NORML SHOW LIVE: Marijuana Nation

NORML SHOW LIVE: Marijuana Nation is the talk radio home of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, providing a voice for responsible adult cannabis consumers since 1970. You'll hear from celebrities, artists, activists, musicians, doctors, scientists, NORML's staff and board of directors, and most importantly, YOU! Whether you are a fellow "traveler of the road" or you just believe government should let adults be adults and stop trying to legislate morality, this is the show by, for, and about YOU!

Show Notes

The following program, NORML SHOW LIVE, is intended for responsible adults only. We advocate for the repeal of marijuana prohibition for adults. We discuss the science, culture, and controversy about America’s marijuana laws. We do not advocate or encourage any illegal activity and advise all listeners to learn their state and federal marijuana laws by visiting NORML.org. Opinions and claims made by guests and advertisers of NORML SHOW LIVE are their own and do not necessarily reflect the philosophy and policies of NORML. Listener discretion is advised.

    Date / Time:

    Apologies for technical difficulties

Our wireless connection at the Cannabis Café was so sporadic that we couldn't continue our live show for November 14.  My deepest apologies; I do strive to provide a quality show, but this time my plane coming in from Vegas had mechanical difficulties and delayed me by two hours.

We're going to install a hard-wired connection there at the café so that we can have a great connection.  It really is a fantastic place to do a live show, with so many people celebrating freedom in a way few have experienced.  Next week, we'll bring it all to you.

    Thanks for your patience.  --"R"R

Starting a bit late for Saturday!

Dr. Lester Grinspoon's Skype call is running long.  Once he has completed, we will come back online.

    Show 002 edited and reposted

I have edited out most of the technical glitches and dead air from our connection-plagued live remote show from the Portland Hempstalk.  The show contains what I believe to be the first media report of Jack Herer's heart attack backstage.

Next week in Boston should provide us better cellular coverage than the remote park where we were in Portland.

    NORML SHOW LIVE on Skype

OK, first BTR isn't allowing me to upload the volume-leveled version of Show 001.  Server issues, I guess.

Second, I'm trashing the Zephyr box I was using for phone connection and switching to Skype.  If it's good enough for Oprah, it's good enough for NORML.  I hope this helps the volume issues. -- "R"R

    Working to fix volume levels

I'm editing the Show 001 to balance out the crazy volume levels of callers vs. host.  Strange how Steve was too quiet, Mason was too loud, and Paul was just right.  The Goldilocks of guests, I suppose.

I have no control over the caller volumes and the BlogTalkRadio people told me they don't either.  But I am upgrading equipment this week to make our side come out louder and less staticky. Yes, I made that word up.  We'll have this ironed out in no time.

Until then, I've run the show through the compressor, leveler, and normalizer, and I'll get it uploaded tomorrow morning.  I'm bushed. --"R"R

The premiere of NORML SHOW LIVE is history!

Thanks so much everyone for being one of the 666 live listeners to the first NORML SHOW LIVE!  I guess now the Drug Free America Foundation will say we're satanists.

Big thanks to Paul, Mason, & Steve for being perfect first guests.  Most folks can't do a four-on-the-air segment without talking all over each other.  These guys are true pros, and I knew it, and that's why they were there.

Toby Grear was fantastic.  I do so love mixed martial arts and really hope I get to see him fight again someday soon.  As for the "true warrior within" - I suppose I've got one; I did study Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do for eighteen months, but I prefer my warfare with words and ideas.  Less contusions that way.

Also props to all the folks in the chat room - up to 151 at one point.  My "Cousin" Kenny is our chat moderator and did a great job.  You can offer up questions by chat if you don't want to go on the air.

Next week: live and direct from Portland Hempstalk at Kelley Point Park, where the Willamette and Columbia Rivers meet.  Check out http://hempstalk.org for more details.
