The education reform proposals in New Jersey have focused primarily in two areas: school choice issues, such as vouchers and charter schools, and changing employment practices by reforming teacher evaluations and tenure. Some proponents believe that school governance is also part of the problem, and they suggest states should look at the ways school districts are governed – including school boards. Can we change the role of the school board member and the superintendent? Should we change it?
Please join host Ray Pinney as he discusses these issues with Chester E. Finn Jr., President of the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. An influential Washington think tank on education policy, the Fordham Institute has been a national force in promoting and studying the education reform movement nationwide.
