For Tattoos Part 3, you’ll meet another brilliant and acclaimed artist – Geoff Horn of Hole in the Sky Tattoo Parlor in Woodland Park, NJ. Right out of college, he lost his job as a waiter and took over his roommate’s job at a tattoo parlor in Montclair, NJ. He stayed there for many years and learned how to pierce and tattoo, although he claims he was never an artist previous to this experience. He used his time at the shop wisely, however, honing his new skills as an artist. Two years into tattooing, Geoff was contacted by another artist in Portugal with whom he traded flash art, and the two began traveling and tattooing at large tattoo conventions around the world in the US, Portugal, Stockholm and the UK. Geoff Horn learned his art from some of the best tattoo artists around the world and is now best known for doing bright solid American traditional and large scale Japanese tattooing. His pursuit has allowed him the opportunity to tattoo in 13 countries and throughout the US. A Harris Research Poll from 2015 reviewed tattoo statistics from current generations and found the adoption of tattoos by Millennials has been unprecedented in history. Almost half (47%) of Americans age 18 to 29 had at least one tattoo. And for the first time, women have overtaken men in the adoption of tattoos -- 31% vs. 27% in men. Way to go ladies! After the interview, check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
