Maple Syrup isn’t just for pancakes. Pure maple syrup enhances the flavor of many foods and is slightly sweeter than cane sugar. It features 54 antioxidants positioning the flavorful syrup among other fruits and vegetables well-known for health benefits. Nate Bissell is the 6th generation owner of Bissell Maple Farm, and his family has been making maple syrup in Ohio since the late 1800's.You thought all maple syrup came from Vermont! Like fine wines, pure maple syrup gets its unique flavor from the geographic region. How do you improve the deliciousness maple syrup? Bissell Maple Farm, in collaboration with Pappy & Company, launched a gourmet product, Pappy & Company Bourbon Barrel-Aged Syrup, at the Summer Fancy Food Show in NY. The product is created by aging Bissell's top-quality Sugarmaker's Reserve™ syrup in rare, 23 year-old Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels. Bissell Maple Farm starts with sap produced at the peak of the maple harvesting season, during a very specific window when the Red Maple and Sugar Maple trees are producing a limited quantity of pristine sap. The Sugarmaker's Reserve™ syrup produced from this sap is then aged 100 days in barrels that have been used for years to distill Pappy Van Winkle bourbon whiskey in Frankfort, KY. Two American traditions, maple syrup and bourbon, become one, and they are perfect together! Try it with cheesecake, creme brulee, meat rubs, cocktails, and marinades. Under Nate’s leadership since 2011, Bissell Maple Farm is a blend of state of-the-art technology and old fashioned ingenuity.
