According to boxing legend George Forman, “I get up in the morning looking for an adventure.” The same can be said about Calvin Schwartz. These days Cal divides his time between more activities than most of us -- Senior Writer NJ -The Shore Thing, novelist (Vichy Water), blogger, music journalist, biographer, and explorer of all things New Jersey. This Rutgers grad and former pharmacist has finally found his niche in journalism, and he’s using his writing skills and quest for knowledge to embark on a series of grand adventures. Just check out Cal on Facebook, and you’ll be apprised of his daily adventures. One day he’s at Grounds for Sculpture admiring Marilyn Monroe’s long legs, another day he’s hanging out with Comedian Mike Marino and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Vini Lopez at Warlock Drums. He recently had the honor of interviewing Princess Elettra Marconi Giovannelli, daughter the inventor of radio. To say Cal’s interests and pursuits are varied, is an understatement. This adventurer has auditioned for The Apprentice at age 60, examined paranormal activities, met more NJ musicians than most, advocated for the homeless, and has cultivated a strong spiritual side. But there is one Asbury Park experience Cal hasn’t had, and he’s going to share that with me this weekend. Curious? Thought so! Somehow with all this, Cal is developing a new web site which will be “the embodiment of what he’s done for the past 30 years.” After the interview, check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
