What do songwriters like to write and sing about? If you’re Kevin John Allen, you write songs and stories of the loves, regrets, wins and losses in life. And then you sing them with an unmistakable deep, rich baritone voice. Kevin is one of the busiest guys in the business. He’s written over 200 songs, and several of them have been recorded by other artists, and some have been placed in movies and international advertisements. He’s got a new CD, The Long Road of Life, which is done in his trademark Jersey Shore County Cowboy style and includes performances by many of Kevin’s musician friends. But there’s more of course. At the 2013 4th Annual Jersey Acoustic Music Awards (JAM Awards) held at the Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove, NJ, he won for Best Country Artist. This self described “old weathered songwriter working in the veins of Americana, country, reggae and American music” can be found playing along the Jersey Shore, NYC, PA and Nashville. In the last two years he has played at The Stone Pony, The Saint, The Cambridge Inn, Espresso Joe's, The Wonder Bar, The Twisted Tree, 4S Songwriter's Series, and Studio 303 in Nashville. Catch him locally or anywhere and you’ll be glad you did. Check out Kevin’s music on Reverb Nation and like him on Facebook to follow what he’s up to. After the interview, check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for additional information.
